Hypocrisy and authenticity

Jesus speaks against the hypocrisy of the Pharisees and teachers of the Law. Here is the whole theme of authenticity.

For us formators, being authentic involves recognition of fragility not only in our formees, but also in ourselves: we are all a work in progress.

It involves recognition of reciprocity in formation: formation is a two-way process, not a top-down one.

It involves deep and genuine respect for the other, the formee: which does necessarily mean shutting up and saying nothing.

It means overcoming fear, and helping our youngsters overcome fear. The human being and the Christian fears no one except God; and that God is a God who loves, who is father, who cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, who knows how to give good things to his children, so that we have only to ask, seek, knock....
