Holy and immaculate in love

Maraccani gave an extraordinary homily this morning (2 Sun after Christmas), linking the Prologue of John – with the revelation of God in Jesus – to the first reading from ben Sirach and the second from Ephesians. God’s wisdom is God’s plan, his project for humanity: that we be holy and immaculate in love - these words had never struck me before. The Augustine reading in the Office of Readings, linking love of God and love of neighbour: God’s love is first, but what we see first is neighbour, God we cannot see; so the way to God is by loving our neighbour. The one closest to me.
