Redemption

This is redemption: that evil, unfolded and revealed to its greatest extent, with its satanic aspect that was unknown to Judas, to the members of the Sanhedrin, to Pilate and to Herod…, was not able to make Jesus turn bad, was not able to turn off love, and that it became instead wood for the fire of charity. Neither the floods of death, nor impetuous torrents, nor deep waters can quench such a fire, because it is precisely from all these waters poured out on it that love drew strength (cf. Ps 18,5-7; 69,3b). Paul will truly say: …” [Rossi de Gasperis, Sentieri di vita 3:270.] [The Law of the Cross: Lonergan.]
